Landscape Design in Roseville

For more than twenty years we have designed and built gardens across Sydney’s North Shore, and landscape design in Roseville is work we know well. It is a leafy, family-oriented suburb of established homes on generous blocks, many with mature trees and heritage character, where the brief is usually a versatile family garden that connects to the house, gives the children room to play and sits comfortably among the canopy.

As your project gets started, we set up a meeting to understand your needs and the space you’re working with. We talk through ideas and materials, and draw on our past projects to see how they might fit your home. After that meeting we send over a quick questionnaire for you to complete. The questionnaire, together with the insights gathered from our initial conversation, forms the foundation of a comprehensive project overview tailored to your new garden.

With experience within and around Roseville, our understanding of the area is extensive. Our collection of projects and our experience let us confidently create garden designs and build landscapes of various forms, from a single considered courtyard through to a full garden, pool and entertaining area. Why Roseville is different

Roseville marks the start of the greener Upper North Shore, and its gardens reflect that. Blocks are larger and leafier than the harbourside suburbs, with established trees the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan is built to protect, so a good design works with the existing canopy rather than around a removal that may not be approved. The suburb’s Federation and period homes reward materials and planting with structure and longevity, and gentle falls are usually best resolved with modest terracing rather than heavy retaining.

Services in Roseville

Having completed projects in Roseville and across the North Shore, we understand the brief, from decks and entertaining terraces through to lawns, hedging, pools and full landscape builds. Our team includes landscape architects, project managers, pool builders, structural landscapers and horticulturalists, so a project moves from concept to a finished, planted garden without being handed between separate businesses.

Think Outside Gardens Roseville Family Garden Project

The Roseville Family Garden was designed as a versatile space for a growing family, with a generous lawn for play, a deck and terrace for entertaining, and layered planting that gives privacy and structure while sitting comfortably beneath the established trees. It is the Roseville brief in one project: a practical family garden that respects the leafy, canopy-rich setting.

Roseville council & site notes

Ku-ring-gai Council

Roseville is within the Ku-ring-gai Council area, which runs one of the strictest tree-canopy LEPs on the North Shore. Canopy cover targets shape where a pool, deck or driveway can go before DA stage, and removing a significant tree without approval risks real penalties. Heritage conservation areas cover several streets, so pools, terraces and front gardens are sited with those constraints resolved before design, not after. We factor this in during design and can prepare the documentation council requires.

“The design stage was where it all came together. They took what we had talked about on site and turned it into a proper concept plan, plan view, sketches of the key areas, material suggestions, right down to the plant list. It picked up the lines of the new renovation without copying it, and the layered planting in front of the hedging gives the garden a depth we did not expect from a space this size. There is room for the kids to play and plenty for me to keep fussing over.”

Roseville FAQs

It depends on the scope. Roseville sits within Ku-ring-gai Council, which runs one of the strictest tree-canopy LEPs on the North Shore, and several streets fall within heritage conservation areas. Some works proceed as exempt or complying development, while pools, terraces and larger changes may need a development application. We resolve these constraints during design and can prepare the documentation council requires.
