Landscape Design in Cammeray
For more than twenty years, Think Outside Gardens Sydney has been operating within Sydney’s Lower North Shore, Cammeray, specialising in the field of Landscape and Garden Design.
As your project gets underway, we’ll coordinate a meeting to understand your requirements of your new garden project. This stage encompasses idea generation, material exploration, and exposure to our previous collections of projects, illustrating how they can be adapted to suit your home.
Following this meeting, we will provide a brief questionnaire for you to fill out. When combined with the insights taken from our initial conversation, we will provide a comprehensive overview tailored to your new garden.
Having undertaken projects in and around Cammeray, our knowledge of the area is extensive. Supported by our expansive portfolio and experience, we possess the confidence to offer garden designs and implement landscape projects across diverse scales and styles.

Why Cammeray is different
Most Cammeray sites present the same handful of challenges, and how they are handled is what separates a garden that lasts from one that looks good for a season. Blocks tend to fall front to back or side to side, so resolving that fall with retaining and terracing early usually gives more usable garden than levelling everything. On a sloping, built-up block, drainage is not optional. And with homes close on either side, screen planting and considered levels do more for privacy than a taller solid fence, keeping the garden feeling open rather than boxed in.
Services in Cammeray
Having completed projects in and around Cammeray, we understand the brief that comes with it, from compact courtyard gardens through to full landscape and pool builds. Our team includes landscape architects, project managers, pool builders, structural landscapers and horticulturalists, so a project can move from concept to a finished, planted garden without being handed between separate businesses.

Cammeray council & site notes
North Sydney Council
Cammeray is within the North Sydney Council area. Established trees are commonly protected, so removal or significant pruning usually needs consent, and it is better to design around a tree you are likely to keep than to bank on a removal that may not be approved. Some works proceed as exempt or complying development, while larger changes, pools or work in a heritage-affected street may need a development application. We factor this in during design and can prepare the documentation council requires.
“The brief was to modernise a tired pool and garden to suit the house. What we got was something far more considered a restrained palette, dark fencing and soft green planting that lets the Jacaranda and the water do all the talking. Every material choice feels deliberate. It's a genuinely calm space to come home to.”
